This is the most ridiculous mental health facility I have every been too. The nurse practioner Sharlene is so unprofessional and uncaring person I have ever met. She weaned my off effexor (taking two miserable weeks) then put me on a brand new med called viibryd. With in 4 days I was suicidal and crying hysterically. I went into the office and to get switched back to effexor (I was in a complete state of psychosis) I had cut my wrist all up and was crying and extremely mad. I saw the psychologist first, because Sharlene was at lunch (big surprise). While speaking to the psychologist Sharlene came in and I told her I want to go back on effexor. She said I'll come back when we are not going to shout and left the room. I told the psychologist I was suicidal and the office (both Charlene and Julie) let me leave. They screwed me over by not fixing the problem and let me walk out with a plan to take my own life. This is my piece of advice to anyone who needs psychiatric care – go see an actual “Psychiatrist” for medication. Nurse Practioners are only registered nurse with a pharmacological certification. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY.
Total irresponsible behavior from this clinic! Charlene Banks is a bigger basket case than her patients. On one occasion I was parallel parking for my appointment and Ms. Banks was walking into the clinic, and she suddenly stopped and glared at me, and then accused me of trying to run her over when I never left the road, and parked normally , and she was on sidewalk the entire time. My latest appointment with Charlene was supposed to last 1 hour, but she gave me less than 10 minutes, and refused to address my concerns because according to her " I was not the only one having a bad day...she was too" but I am pretty sure my insurance company will be charged for a full hour. Charlene is also very forgetful, and I have had to repeatedly tell her what medicine I was on, because evidently she couldn't find it in her notes. (what if I told her the wrong thing and she just took my word for it?) Beyond this the receptionist was too busy to make my follow up appointment, and said she would call me later, but didn't. Two weeks before I ran out of meds, I made my own appointment, but Charlene was booked out for 4 weeks, and I was told there was nothing that could be done about the fact that I was going to be out of medicine that you should never go off of cold turkey. They also informed me that I now had to get my meds from a pharmacy that this clinic evidently jumped in bed with, and I had no choice about this. When I voiced my concerns about 1. breaking my contract with my pain doctor which states I will only get medicine from 1 pharmacy, 2. because my husband died of an accidental poly-pharmaceutical overdose I am acutely aware of how unsafe it is to get medicine from more than one pharmacy because it is important for the pharmacist to have the whole picture so they can see if there may be drug interaction, I was dismissed by both Dr. Dailey, and Charlene Banks, who showed no sympathy for my legitimate concerns. They simply told me if I was going to see them I had to get meds from their pharmacy. I have also seen Dr. Dailey for almost a decade and I can honestly say in all that time, he has never given me any real help. He simply sits there and "listens" without ever offering any exercises, or advise that may be helpful. Needless to say, I will be seeking more professional help elsewhere.
Kyra has done an excellent job with me, in my opinion. This is the first and only place I've been for mental health but the help I've received has me moving in the right direction. With Kyra's help, I've pulled through some very low points. Unfortunately, many people end up going to this facility because they are ordered to as a condition of court, myself included, so I can see why they may feel dissatisfied with their whole situation. I see my primary care physician when it comes to medication, but I've heard from both my own dr. and the staff at the facility that the nurse practitioner on site "really knows her stuff".
My mom saw Dr. Bob for counseling through a tough time in her life and she was extremely satisfied with him as well. Her faith is very important to her and Dr. Bob wasn't afraid to talk to her about Biblical scripture, of which he is very knowledgeable. She and I both highly recommend this facility. Dr. Bob was invaluable to her, and I don't know what I'd do without Kyra.
